 WELCOME

Brown City Junior/Senior High School offers students the best possible opportunity for academic, athletic and vocational training to insure preparation for high level employability in the 21st century.  An outstanding academic curriculum is the pride of the BCHS staff and the community.  Brown City Junior/Senior High SchoolIS PROUD OF ITS tradition, consistently reviews School improvement and is ongoing and centered on Data-driven decisions to enhance student success.

High School students schedule coursework in a 4-year individualized plan to satisfy rigorous graduation requirements and to prepare them for their career choices.  Supplementing the solid core curriculum are elective courses, including an ACT Prep class along with our outstanding Auto mechanics program.  Advanced Placement classes are offered in Literature and Calculus. Twenty one instructors offer courses for the 425 students in grades 7-12. A large percentage of students expand their opportunities by enrolling at the Sanilac Career Center for several hours of the school day.

We have a “School with In a School” and “Seat Time Waivers” (STW) that services our Alternative Education students AND VARIED LEARNERS. We PROACTIVELY DIFFERENTIATE INSTRUCTION TO MEET THE STUDENT NEEDS ALLOWING ALL OF OUR STUDENTS to still enjoy the day to day activities throughout our school year.

School spirit, which energizes BCHS, is evident in both co-curricular activities and athletics. More than half of Brown City’s 's students participate in co-curricular activities, choosing from  Quiz Bowl, Student Council, National Honor Society, Athletics and more.

As competitors in the Greater Thumb Conference (GTC), Brown City athletic teams have performed well in boys and girls basketball, bowling, golf, track and field, cross country and  as well as baseball, football, wrestling, softball, volleyball, and cheerleading.

BCHS encourages participation in athletics, but does impose an academic standard of passing 5 of 7 classes for athletic eligibility.   Health and safety are priorities for all grade levels.

Parent support groups are vital to the success of academic, sport, music, leadership, and co-curricular activities.  Parents are encouraged to attend parent/teacher conferences each fall.  Booster groups lend significant leadership and funding support for athletics and co-curricular.  The Brown City Athletic Boosters is our organization for all BCHS sport teams.
